We will be sewing a different ‘Hexi’ block each month for the next 9 months. The blocks will grow slightly more complicated as the months go on with more pieces and more points to match (eek!). This will give the chance to start simply and build confidence gradually.
For those who have never done it before this will teach you! Completely! With some really stunning blocks to be proud of.
For those who have done it and been frustrated with it in the past, this will help you over come the bits that can be a puzzle. Mainly, avoiding unpicking because your pieces aren’t big enough or they have been sewn at the wrong angle and don’t cover their place in the pattern. This is what puts most people off.
The Quilt
The aim is to complete a stunning quilt by the end of the 9 months. It will be made up of 18 whole blocks meaning you will sew 2 different colourways of each block each month, building variety and complexity within your own quilt.
If you want to go bigger, and make more blocks, go for it! If you want to turn your blocks into other projects, and go smaller, you can do this as well.
Instructions to complete block centres and ideas for other projects will be sent out with month three.
Instructions to complete the quilt will be sent out with the final block in month nine. This will include quilting, binding and all the finishing touches.
Sign up options
You can choose to sign up for the whole 9 months or for just 3 months at a time.
You can also choose to sign up for the pattern only each month ( £6 ) and use your own fabrics or go the whole hog and also receive Love From Beth fabric packs ( £14 ) to sew with each month.
The pattern will be sent out within the first week of each month as a PDF download. ( So please check you have provided the correct email! ) This will allow you to print as many copies of the paper patterns as you need. ( If this is a problem for you and you need to be sent a paper copy please message me )
Fabric packs will consist of 8 fat eights of original Love From Beth fabrics , just like all the ones in the sample quilt shown. This is more than enough to complete 2 blocks! They will be different each time so as you work through the months, the variety of prints you have to choose from will grow.
So if you sign up for 3 months you will recieve 24 fat eigths in total. This is equivilent to 3 metres of fabric but provides a large vateity of prints. ( Please note - a calculated postage contribution will be added at the checkout depending on where you are in the world )
Please note: you will not be sent a piece for the back of the quilt but you will have plenty to make the binding ( and many other matching projects! )
Sew Along
For those of you who are interested in sewing along with others, I will be running 'Block of the month' classes in the shop (in Devon). These will be posted and available to sign up to in the 'Classes' section of my website. Spaces are limited as there are only so many hours in the day!

This Block of the Month was launched on the 2nd April 2024. You can join in at anytinme and will recieve any months already launched according to the sign- up type you have selected. For example if you sign up for the full 9 months in the middle of July 2024 you will recieve months months 1 - 4 straight away and the next ones as they are released.
