Machine Quilting Masterclass

Build your confidence and learn a range of quilting techniques.

Quilting is my favourite part of making any piece and I think everyone should have a go! Particularly if you are confident in other areas. 

The course will run for 6 weeks in 2 hours sessions. You will produce items each week which you can keep as samples or use in other projects. The aim, by the end, is for you to feel confident in the quilting part of any project. Whether it is a bag or whole quilt I would like for you to be able to feel you can add something extra with your quilting, not just stick to something safe. 

We will start with the basics and build on your skills as the weeks go on. 

• Basics, 'in the ditch', echo quilting, sprial quilting, using guides
• Quilting the same block in different styles for different effects
• Motifs and transfering designs for quilting
• Machine Sashiko
• Free Motion, stipple quilting, filling spaces, highlighting and recessing
• Drawing with thread, writing with thread
  
• Trapunto

There will be little bits of homework! You will be asked to do some prep in the form of sewing basic blocks to work on in class. Details of this will be given after booking. Don't worry, they won't be complicated blocks! 

The price for the course does not include fabric and wadding. You will need to supply your own along with roughly half a metre of wadding to work with throughout the course.
